There are only two known dojos in Australia continuing to teach Uechi-Ryu Karate-do Hozonkai under Grandmaster Takehiro Gaja of Okinawa: one in Kianga under Sensei Karl Aylliffe and one in Sydney under Sensei David Stennett.

The Sydney dojo teaches traditional Uechi-Ryu Hozonkai with a strong focus on practical self-defence, body mechanics, kata, conditioning and close-range application. Sensei David Stennett continues the lineage under Grandmaster Takehiro Gaja through the guidance of Sensei Karl Aylliffe.
