Our Grading System
Uechi-Ryu grading systems vary around the world, with different organisations adopting their own belt colours and ranking structures over time. We have chosen to keep our grading system as close as possible to the traditional Okinawan Hozonkai system taught by Grandmaster Takehiro Gaja.
While some belt colours and progression may differ slightly from other Uechi-Ryu organisations, the core curriculum, technical standards and grading philosophy remain true to the authentic Okinawan tradition. Every grade represents a genuine progression in knowledge, skill, character and understanding of Uechi-Ryu, ensuring students develop a solid foundation before advancing to the next level.
